Welcome Visitors! What is a Mass card or Mass intention?
A Mass card, also known as a Mass offering card, memorial card or a remembrance card, is a greeting card given to someone to let the recipient know they, or a loved-one, will be remembered and prayed for during a specific Mass. For what occasions is a Mass card/Mass intention given? Often a Mass card or intention is given for the repose of a departed soul. The saints and early church fathers spoke of remembering the dead at the Mass and encouraged the faithful to pray for those who had died. Mass intentions are also a wonderful way to express your love to a living person. Anniversaries, birthdays, and Christmas/Easter are popular occasions for offering Mass. The gift of a Mass is fitting in times of illness or personal struggles, any time when you or your loved ones have a particular intention to offer or desire to give thanks to God for his blessings. You may request a Mass for yourself in times of illness, indecision, struggle, thanksgiving or any time. Visit or contact our Parish Office 623-6201 to schedule a mass intention and obtain a Mass card. There is no charge, just a suggested donation of $10, or what you can afford, for each mass. The card giver can present the card or have the parish mail the card directly to the recipient. (Some people wish to have the Mass said anonymously with no card.) The Mass card will let the recipient know the date and time that he or she or a deceased family member, or some other intention, will be prayed for at Mass. |
