Promises that Jesus Makes

The Christian Scriptures constantly refer to the newness of life that comes from faith in Jesus. His fundamental promise: a new life that begins now and extends into eternity. St. Paul speaks of the Christian as a "new creation" (2 Corinthians 5:17). This is a reality that Christians throughout the centuries have experienced for themselves.  You can, too.

  • Forgive and you will be forgiven. (Luke 6:37)
  • Whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. (Matthew 10:39)
  • If you remain in my word, you will truly be my disciples, and you will know the truth,
    and the truth will set you free. (John 8:31-32)
  • I came so that they might have life and have it more abundantly. (John 10:10)
  • Where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.  (Matthew 18:20)
  • I am the living bread that came down from heaven; whoever eats this bread will live forever;
    and the bread that I will give is my flesh for the life of the world.  (John 6:51)
  • Whoever believes in me will do the works that I do, and will do greater ones than these,
    because I am going to the Father. (John 14:12)
  • I am the resurrection and the life; whoever believes in me, even if he dies, will live (John 11:25)

Seek and you shall find.

 Where did I find you, that I came to know you? You were not within my memory before I learned of you. Where, then, did I find you before I came to know you, if not within yourself, far above me? . . .

We believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth...

Christians believe that "the world has been established and kept in being by the Creator's love; has fallen into slavery to sin but has been set free by Christ, crucified and risen to break the power of the evil one. . ." (GS 2 § 2).

We believe in the Holy Spirit...

The Holy Spirit, whom Christ the head pours out on his members, builds, animates, and sanctifies the Church. She is the sacrament of the Holy Trinity's communion with men. (ccc  747)

"The Spirit helps us in our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes with sighs too deep for words." The Holy Spirit, the artisan of God's works, is the master of prayer. (Romans 8:26)

We believe in Jesus Christ, the only Son of God...

The Word became flesh to save us from sin and reconcile us to God. “For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life” (Jn 3:16).
By the Incarnation we are made aware of the depth of God’s love for us. “In this way the love of God was revealed to us: God sent his only Son into the world so that we might have life through him” (1 Jn 4:9).
When the Son of God became man he became a model of holiness for us. “This is my commandment: love one another as I love you” (Jn 15:12).
​God became man that we may partake in the divine nature. “He has bestowed on us the precious and very great promises, so that through them you may come to share in the divine nature” (2 Pt 1:4)

We pray...

In the New Covenant, prayer is the living relationship of the children of God with their Father who is good beyond measure, with his Son Jesus Christ and with the Holy Spirit. The grace of the Kingdom is "the union of the entire holy and royal Trinity . . . with the whole human spirit."

​Thus, the life of prayer is the habit of being in the presence of the thrice-holy God and in communion with him. This communion of life is always possible because, through Baptism, we have already been united with Christ.  Prayer is  Christian  insofar as it is communion with Christ and extends throughout the Church, which is his Body. Its dimensions are those of Christ's love.  Ephesians 3:18-21
